A few weeks ago a popped into the Apple Shop in Liverpool 1 on a Sunday morning to buy a lead to connect my iPad to the class projector. Chatting to the sales assistant, as you do, he mentioned that Apple ran field trips for schools. “How much?” was my first question,. “They are free” was the answer. So I booked and today we went.
We spent about 100 minutes making the scariest, funniest movie trailers possible. The four Apple people were great, very helpful and supportive. The children seemed to enjoy it…I guess “this is the best school trip ever” sort of sums it up. Oh and everyone (expect the grown ups) got a free t-shirt.
Y4 are in the Apple shop in Liverpool 1. Using iMovie on iPads they are making trailers for a film. This could be the most exciting of all our school trips!
There is a brand new Maths puzzle blog for Y4 to get involved wit. Each day a new puzzle is published. Try to get your brain boosted by having a bash at solving the conundrums…or else ask our Carole Vooderman…Mrs Dawson!
Looking at documents from the National Archive we found that Ellen Howard from Birkenhead was evacuated at the start of the Second World War to Oswestry in Shropshire. Using Google Earth her home address and her new address can be seen. Are they the same now as they were then>
In the next half term we will be using the story of War Boy by Michael Foreman to help understand the way the second World War affected the lives of children. Here is a brief, dramatised excerpt.
We enjoyed a different day in Y4 on Friday. It was a combined World Box Day combined with Technology Takeover Day. A bit busy….but well worth it.
Technology Takeover Day enables the children to bring into school their gadgets and experiment with learning in a different way. Nintendo’s, PsP’s and I-Pod Touches brought new ways of finding out, sharing and collaborating with ideas. We also found out the weight of Phoebe and Lewis’s brains….the girls were delighted to find out the result!
World Box Day is well established in Y4. This time it was with an Olympic theme. Painting, cutting, sticking, finding out, working together, sharing, problem solving, printing, Google Apping (at home an in school) and last but not least …glittering! Y4 had a great time!
